Many important aspects of our lives involve repetition, from daily habits to monthly reviews. TidyJot's task recurrence feature allows you to set tasks that automatically regenerate, ensuring you never miss a beat.
How to Set Recurrence:
Edit a Task: Open the task you wish to make recurring (either a new one or an existing one) in its detailed edit modal.
Find Recurrence Options: Look for a section or dropdown labeled "Recurrence," "Repeat," or "Frequency."
Choose Recurrence Type:
None: The default for one-time tasks.
Monthly: The task will repeat on a specific day of the month (e.g., the 15th of every month).
Yearly: The task will repeat on a specific date each year (e.g., January 1st).
Custom: This is where you get granular control:
Repeat Interval: How often should it repeat (e.g., "1," "2," "3")?
Repeat Unit: Days, Weeks, Months, or Years. (e.g., "every 2 weeks")
Repeat On Days: If you choose "Weeks" as the unit, you can select specific days of the week (e.g., "Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday").
Set Recurrence End (Optional):
Never: The task will repeat indefinitely (default).
On a Date: Set a specific end date (e.g., "Repeat until Dec 31st").
After X Occurrences: The task will repeat a set number of times (e.g., "Repeat after 10 times").
Save Changes: Click "Save" or "Update Task" to apply the recurrence settings.
How Recurring Tasks Work:
When you complete a recurring task, a new instance of that task will automatically be created for its next scheduled occurrence, following your defined pattern.
The completed instance remains in your history, so you have a record of your consistency.
Examples of Recurring Tasks:
Daily: "Meditate for 10 minutes," "Drink 8 glasses of water."
Weekly: "Plan next week's meals," "Review weekly goals."
Monthly: "Pay rent," "Review budget."
Yearly: "Annual health check-up," "Renew subscription."
Recurrence is an invaluable tool for building consistent habits and managing routine responsibilities effortlessly.
