Integrating Tasks with Focus Areas

TidyJot's power truly shines when you connect your daily actions (Tasks) to your larger aspirations (Focus Areas). This integration ensures that every effort you make is aligned with your overarching goals and projects.

What is a Focus Area? A Focus Area represents a major project, goal, or area of life you want to dedicate attention to (e.g., "Write My Novel," "Improve Fitness," "Launch New Business"). You can learn more about them in the "Understanding Focus Areas" article.

How to Integrate Tasks:

  1. Assign a Task to a Focus Area (Best Practice):

    • When you create or edit a task, you'll find an option to "Assign to Focus Area" or "Link to Project."

    • From the dropdown list, select the relevant Focus Area (e.g., assigning "Research plot ideas" to the "Write My Novel" Focus Area).

    • Save the task.

  2. Create Tasks Directly within a Focus Area:

    • Navigate to the "Plans" section and click on a specific Focus Area.

    • Within the Focus Area's detail view, you'll see a dedicated section to "Add Task." Tasks created here are automatically linked to that Focus Area.

Benefits of Integration:

  • Clear Alignment: Instantly see which tasks contribute to which larger goal, ensuring your daily efforts are meaningful.

  • Progress Tracking: As you complete tasks linked to a Focus Area, its overall progress bar will update, giving you a visual sense of achievement.

  • Improved Organization: Keep all related tasks grouped under their respective projects, reducing clutter and making it easier to manage complex initiatives.

  • AI Insights: TidyJot's AI can use these connections to provide more intelligent suggestions and analysis, helping you stay on track.

  • Filtered Views: Easily filter your task lists to show only tasks relevant to a specific Focus Area, helping you maintain deep work sessions.

By integrating your tasks with Focus Areas, you move beyond simple task management to a powerful system for goal achievement and purposeful action.
