Searching and Filtering Entries

Finding specific memories, tasks, or insights in your TidyJot app is made easy with our robust search and filtering capabilities. Whether you're looking for a specific phrase or entries from a particular period, we've got you covered.

1. Global Search:

  • How to Use: Look for a prominent search bar, often at the top of your Dashboard or Journal view. Simply type in keywords or phrases you remember from your entries.

  • What it Searches: The global search will scan the titles and content of your journal entries, tasks, and focus areas.

  • Tips: Be as specific as possible for better results. If you remember a specific word or a unique name, that's your best bet.

2. Filtering in the Journal:

On your Journal page, you'll find more refined filtering options:

  • By Date:

    • Calendar View: Use the calendar interface to navigate directly to a specific day, week, or month. Clicking on a date will display all entries from that day.

    • Date Range Selector: Some views might offer a date range picker, allowing you to view entries between two specific dates.

  • By Entry Type:

    • You can often filter your journal entries by their type (e.g., "Morning Check-in," "Evening Reflection," "Brain Dump"). This is useful if you want to review all your reflections from a particular category.

  • By Tags:

    • If you've diligently added tags to your entries, you can use these to filter your view. Select one or more tags (e.g., "#gratitude", "#work") to see all entries associated with them. This is incredibly powerful for tracking themes and topics over time.

  • By Mood/Sentiment:

    • Since TidyJot's AI analyzes the mood and sentiment of your entries, you might find filters that allow you to see entries where your mood was "happy," "calm," or "stressed." This can help you identify patterns in your emotional well-being.

How to Combine Filters:

  • Many interfaces allow you to combine multiple filters (e.g., "all 'Morning Check-in' entries from last week tagged with '#goal'"). Experiment with these combinations to narrow down your results precisely.

Tips for Effective Searching and Filtering:

  • Consistent Tagging: The more consistently you tag your entries, the more effective filtering will be.

  • Descriptive Titles: Good titles make it easier to spot the right entry in a list of search results.

  • Regular Review: Periodically reviewing your tags and entry types can help you refine your organizational system.
