Tags are a powerful way to organize and retrieve information within TidyJot. By adding tags to your journal entries, tasks, and focus areas, you create cross-references that allow you to quickly find related content across your entire app.
How to Add Tags:
During Entry Creation/Editing:
When you are writing a new journal entry, creating a task, or defining a focus area, you will typically find a "Tags" field or section.
Simply type your desired tag (e.g.,
gratitude,work-project,mood:happy).Press Enter or comma to create the tag. You can add multiple tags to a single item.
AI-Generated Tags:
After you save a journal entry, TidyJot's AI will analyze your content and automatically suggest or add relevant tags. These AI-generated tags help you discover new connections and categorize your thoughts efficiently.
Best Practices for Tags:
Be Specific: Instead of a general "meeting," use "meeting-client-X" or "meeting-team-sync."
Be Consistent: Use the same tag for similar topics (e.g., always
#morningroutineinstead of sometimes#morning_routine).Categorize Moods/Themes: Tags like
#mood:calm,#challenge,#breakthroughcan be incredibly useful for filtering.Link to Focus Areas: Use tags to explicitly link concepts to your larger goals or projects.
Don't Over-tag: While flexible, too many tags can make them less useful. Aim for 3-5 relevant tags per item.
Managing Tags:
Currently, TidyJot automatically manages your tags based on your entries. As you use them, they become part of your tag library.
Viewing All Tags: (Future Feature / Check Dashboard) In upcoming versions, you may have a dedicated section to view and manage all your tags, including merging or deleting them. For now, the best way to manage is through consistent use and by leveraging the search and filtering functions.
Filtering by Tags: The primary way to "manage" tags is by using them to filter your journal entries, tasks, and focus areas. This allows you to pull up all content related to a specific topic instantly.
Tags transform your journal from a simple chronology into a dynamic, interconnected network of your life's information.
