Understanding Mood and Sentiment Analysis

TidyJot tracks two related but different things: your mood and your sentiment score — and you can see both visualized over time in the Mood Flow chart on your Dashboard.

Mood is a label — a word that captures how you were feeling when you wrote the entry. It's shown as a colored tag when you view an entry (e.g., a purple "overwhelmed" tag). Examples include: Excited, Motivated, Overwhelmed, Reflective, Anxious, Happy, Neutral.

Sentiment Score is a number from 0 to 100 representing the overall positivity of the entry:

  • 0–30: Negative or stressed tone

  • 31–60: Neutral or mixed

  • 61–100: Positive or uplifting tone

The Mood Flow Chart

The Mood Flow chart on your Dashboard plots your sentiment scores over time as a line graph with colored data points. Each dot represents a journal entry — higher dots mean more positive entries. You can see your emotional patterns at a glance: when you tend to feel your best, how your mood shifts week to week, and what stretches have been particularly up or down.

You can also quick-log today's mood directly from the Mood Flow widget using the emoji icons in the top right corner — no full journal entry required.
